In March 2012, the PATAC vehicle thermal climatic wind tunnel lab (CWT) came into service. The whole wind tunnel was designed and constructed according to the GM's global standards, in which approximately 180 million RMB was invested, and it is equipped with the world's leading technology of simulating climatic environment including temperature and humidity, and simulating road load. PATAC is the first company to operate a global leading CWT lab among the domestic automotive manufacturers.

The PATAC vehicle thermal climatic wind tunnel lab is mainly responsible for tests of vehicle HVAC system performance, vehicle thermal performance management, powertrain system cooling performance, and environmental simulation including extreme climatic conditions (rain/snow) and etc. The thermal climatic wind tunnel lab integrated advantages and characteristics of multi-latitudinal climatic conditions, safe and friendly environment, highly efficient development and verification, and etc., which equipped PATAC with comprehensive abilities to develop and verify automatic HVAC control, vehicle comfort, vehicle thermal system integration, and etc.
